Osage Beach Fire District hired 3 new firefighters. Probationary firefighters once hired are required to work a 40-hour week of training preparing them for their first 48-hour shift with their assigned shifts.

Learning the basics

During this 40-hour week, the newly hired firefighters learn the basics, including but not limited to, hose deployment, rope rescue, and auto extrication.

This 40-hour week also gives the new firefighters a chance to meet everyone they may not work with regularly, as they work hand-in-hand with the on-duty crews, during these 40 hours.

reports

Once their week is completed they then will report to their assigned shifts on their scheduled day where they will complete a 6-month probationary period.

During this time frame, they are required to complete a task book involving numerous types of rescue scenarios, driving and pumping scenarios, and other firefighting techniques before they receive their badge and official title of a firefighter.

NEAS would like to welcome probationary firefighters, Shiplett, Schnare, and Douglas to the Osage Beach Fire Protection District Family and the Lake of the Ozarks!!
