It is with a heavy heart that BAFE announces the passing of two friends and colleagues. Both, Peter Chilton and Dominic Cook passed away at the end of April 2022.

They both greatly assisted BAFE with fire extinguisher technician assessments/verification and exam invigilation as experts within their field.

Peter Chilton

Peter Chilton had more than 30 years of fire industry experience before working with BAFE, including 25 years with a fire extinguisher organization, Fire Protection Services, where he was Operations Director.

Upon BAFE going fully independent in 2009, Peter was instrumental in assisting with the transition and set up to our offices in Moreton-in-Marsh. Peter also provided a substantial constructive role in recruiting and expanding the field assessor team BAFE utilizes. His considerable efforts in these areas are greatly recognized when it comes to BAFE’s history and development.

Dominic Cook

His work performed on behalf of BAFE was very well respected, always guiding professionally

Dominic Cook also had a substantial fire background before working with BAFE, having served as a Fire Officer with Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade and as a Service Technician, Branch Manager, and Area Manager both in the South of England and the East of Scotland.

During this time, he gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Management. He also founded and ran a successful fire protection company based in Scotland. His work performed on behalf of BAFE was very well respected, always guiding professionally.

knowledgeable, helpful, and personable

Ultimately, however, both Peter and Dominic will be remembered as exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful, and personable individuals.

For many they were the “face” of the BAFE organization that people knew, being the assessors for extinguisher technician assessments and/or providing exam invigilation. Their proficient yet approachable demeanors were very much respected within the industry and will be remembered as such.

acknowledge substantial effort

BAFE would like to thank everyone who has been made aware of this news for their kind comments and tributes for both Peter and Dominic over recent weeks. The sheer amount of positivity being received is a testament to both their characters.

The BAFE team will miss them both very much and must acknowledge their substantial effort and support for BAFE and what it represents within the fire industry.
