On the premises of the Magna Powertrain Engineering Center in St. Valentin, perfect test conditions are currently being created especially for automated driving.
Digitrans is expanding the existing test track into a test center for automated driving. A special highlight is the outdoor sprinkler system, unique in Europe, which was developed together with the spray technology expert AQUASYS and is already attracting international interest.
Outdoor sprinkler system
The dedicated expansion of the test track is being driven forward by DigiTrans GmbH
The dedicated expansion of the test track is being driven forward by DigiTrans GmbH: A city zone with bike lanes was created, traffic lights were installed, a traffic circle was built, and instead of the previous two lanes, there are now six lanes on the stretch, which is similar to a highway.
In order to be able to test automated driving in bad weather, a 100-meter-long outdoor sprinkler system is currently being built that can display the entire range from drizzle to heavy rain at the push of a button.
This will allow the sensors responsible for object detection in automated vehicles to be reproducibly tested in complex scenarios involving multiple road users and at high speeds.
AQUASYS offers technical Service and pre-assembly
The technical concept up to the pre-assembly in Linz is provided by AQUASYS. They are very pleased about this project, which perfectly demonstrates their spray technology competences also outside of fire fighting and thus also arouses international interest.
