The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) regional administrator has authorized the use of federal funds, in order to assist the US state of Arizona, in combatting the Pipeline Fire burning, in the Coconino County, United States of America (USA).
On June 12, the state of Arizona submitted a request for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG). At the time of the request, the fire threatened approximately 2,100 homes in and around Doney Park, Timberline and Black Bill Park. The fire also threatened schools, fire stations, post offices, cultural sites, cell towers and electrical transmission lines in the area.
Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG)
FMAGs provide federal funding for up to 75 percent of eligible firefighting costs. The Disaster Relief Fund provides allowances for FMAGs through FEMA, in order to assist in fighting fires that threaten to become a greater incident.
Eligible costs covered by FMAGs can include expenses for field camps, equipment use, materials, supplies and mobilization, and de-mobilization activities attributed to fighting the fire.
