In anticipation of the upcoming Fire White Paper, the Fire Minister launched a new website called 'Fire England', where the government is now hosting 'trusted, transparent, and consistent' information about fire.

Previous Fire Ministers have trailed the creation of a fire-focused website for England, but it has not materialized until now. Unusually, this new website is located at www.fireengland.uk and not part of the standard gov.uk domain.

Fire England contains fire safety advice aimed at the public with links to the Fire Kills campaign

Fire England contains fire safety advice aimed at the public with links to the Fire Kills campaign. It explains how the fire and rescue service operates and the legislation governing it. There are links to reports from various government bodies and a section on activity related to the Grenfell Tower fire.

The site is also acting as a front window for recruitment, with explanations about all the different opportunities to join fire and rescue services to protect communities.

Fire and rescue services

For the first time, it is now possible to find out about fire and rescue services through a postcode search online. It provides workforce and response data along with funding and inspection information.

End our Cladding campaigners responded to the launch with anger, referencing the extensive coverage of the impact of building fire safety problems in the Sunday Times and the Housing Ministry’s response about the cost of cladding remediation.
