From 20 to 23 September 2016, WAGNER Rail will be presenting its latest fire protection systems at InnoTrans, the pioneering international trade fair for transport technology.
Water mist compact system
The new water mist compact system is an innovation for compensating for operational failures. It offers an optimal solution for one of the most common causes of fire alarms in the passenger area: improper smoking in the toilet rooms. This occurrence triggers the fire extinguishing system, which empties the train's supply of extinguishing agents in the toilet area.
But when the supply of extinguishing agents is used up, sufficient fire protection for passengers in other areas cannot be guaranteed. The train has to pull into the next station and the passengers have to be evacuated - annoying for the passengers and a financial disaster for the operator.
Water mist extinguishing system
Installed in a space-saving way, it saves the toilet area as needed with its water mist extinguishing system
The new water mist compact system, on the other hand, works autonomously and is designed for smaller protection areas. Installed in a space-saving manner, it protects the toilet area as needed with its own water mist extinguishing system.
If a fire is detected, only this part of the area is extinguished. The train's remaining supply of extinguishing agents is retained, meaning that fire protection for passengers can continue. So nothing stands in the way of the train continuing its journey.
Innovative fire alarm control panel
The new multi-criteria detector is false alarm-resistant against interference such as dust, insecticides and various sprays. It can either work autonomously as a stand-alone detector or, connected to a CAN bus data line, be used as part of a complete fire detection and firefighting system.
The heart of the system is the new fire alarm control panel, approved in accordance with DIN EN 50128 and DIN EN 50129 SIL-2, which can control and monitor 2 loops, each with 32 addressable loop elements, via an internal CAN bus.
WAGNER system technology
New control center scores with a direct connection to the Ethernet interface and to the train bus via CAN-open
In the event of an alarm, the train and locomotive driver can be informed and the location of the fire can be localized, and the WAGNER system technology for firefighting can be controlled. In addition, the new control center scores with a direct connection to the Ethernet interface and to the train bus via CAN-open.
As a technology pioneer in the field of aspirating smoke detectors, WAGNER is bringing an innovation to the market that has been the result of several years of development work. The TITANUS MULTI.SENS® combines the highest sensitivity – it is up to 2,000 times more sensitive than conventional point-type fire detectors – with a new, multi-dimensional detection method.
WAGNER Rail's water mist technology
The new detector recognizes what is burning and what is deceptive. With this intelligent technology, WAGNER is creating completely new alarm concepts for trains. InnoTrans visitors can see for themselves how this works in live fire tests.
WAGNER Rail is exhibiting its fire protection concepts in Hall 5.2, Stand 524. InnoTrans visitors can also experience WAGNER Rail's water mist technology live at the SwissRail stand in Hall 2.2.
