In an incident earlier this afternoon, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews swiftly responded to a fire that engulfed a truck in South Windsor, located north-west of Sydney.
The vehicle, carrying a load of highly flammable hand sanitizer, erupted in flames while parked on a George Street property shortly before 2:30 PM. The fire, fueled by strong winds, expanded rapidly, impacting nearby areas.
Blaze Spreads Beyond Initial Vehicle
As the flames intensified, the fire spread across several acres, ultimately destroying a second truck and a storage shed. The fire reached perilously close to a neighboring house during the escalation.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of FRNSW firefighters and the NSW Rural Fire Service, the residential property was safeguarded from the advancing blaze.
Efforts to Control and Extinguish the Fire
The joint firefighting operation successfully contained the grass fire, which has now been extinguished.
Currently, FRNSW teams are continuing their efforts to douse the remaining hot spots on the two affected trucks and the storage shed, which still show signs of smoldering.
