Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) teams have successfully put out a house fire in Sydney's south-west after more than an hour of intensive effort. The blaze, which destroyed a two-story home on Riverside Drive in Airds, was tackled by twenty FRNSW firefighters who were dispatched shortly before 5 am.
Challenges Faced by Firefighters
The fire's intensity, along with significant radiant heat, created unsafe conditions for firefighters to enter the building to search for any occupants. Despite these challenges, the crews effectively prevented the flames from spreading to nearby properties before managing to thoroughly douse the primary source of the fire.
Resolution and Investigation
The firefighting team was able to extinguish the blaze shortly before 6:30 am. A thorough search of the premises post-extinguishment confirmed that the house was unoccupied, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. The fire's cause is currently deemed suspicious, and the incident has been transferred to the NSW Police for further investigation.
