West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service attended the Emergency Services Day event, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend celebrations, held at Halifax Piece Hall. Colleagues from North Yorkshire FRS also joined in with their water safety demonstration kit, which was a hit with both children and adults.
Firefighters from Rastrick, Halifax, and Todmorden showcased fire engines, water rescue guidance, and wildfire vehicles, while the Calderdale Fire Prevention team was on hand to share fire safety advice.
Jubilee celebrations
Laura Boocock, Calderdale District Commander, said “I’m thrilled that our crews could be part of this fantastic event at the Piece Hall as part of the Jubilee celebrations. We had a fantastic time and saw thousands of people throughout the day."
Laura Boocock adds, “The chance to do this alongside our fellow blue light services was a real bonus – we work with them regularly day-to-day so it was great to celebrate with them too. The Piece Hall is a fantastic venue and we are already planning next year’s event! Thank you to the crews and volunteers involved throughout the day."
