FRNSW crews observed fire through the roof of the single-level building, which extended from the rear
More than 22 firefighters and six fire trucks, including a ladder platform, responded to a Triple Zero (000) call to flames and smoke issuing from the property.
Upon arrival, FRNSW crews observed fire through the roof of the single level building, that extended from the rear to the front of the property. Firefighters immediately began attacking the flames, battling the blaze externally. The flames later caused the ceiling to collapse.
early warning and evacuate safely
Crews managed to contain and extinguish the fire in approximately one hour. Five people self-evacuated from the premises after being alerted to the fire by neighbors, and there were no reported injuries.
FRNSW is unable to determine whether a working smoke alarm was in the property; however, it is a timely reminder for the community that a residential fire can take hold in as little as three minutes, and it is vital to have a working smoke alarm to give occupants early warning and evacuate safely.
