This marks the second time that the congress will be held in Germany, and it will take place in a hybrid format to allow for maximum participation. The DFRWS was first established in 2001 in the USA with the goal of bringing together researchers, practitioners, industry professionals, academics, and law enforcement agencies working in the field of digital forensics.

As a non-profit, voluntary organization, the DFRWS regularly holds conferences in the USA, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
