Cambridge firefighters will once again be opening the doors of Cambridge fire station to give the public a glimpse of life on the front line. The city’s fire station, on Parkside Place will be taking part in the Open Cambridge event on Friday (13) and Saturday (14) September along with many other venues across the city.

Open Cambridge is in its 12th year, and is a hugely popular celebration of Cambridge’s history, architecture, art, and gardens and is run by the University of Cambridge.

Event Agenda 

During the event, members of the public can meet firefighters, look around the fire engines and learn more about the equipment used to save lives.

Crews will also be on hand to talk to residents about fire, water, and road safety as well as answer any questions from potential recruits about the current wholetime firefighter recruitment campaign. The fire station will be open to the public both days with free entry from 11 am until 4 pm.

Open Cambridge weekend

Station Commander for Cambridge Fire Station, Danny Kelly commented, “The Open Cambridge weekend offers a fantastic opportunity for the whole community and visitors alike to explore Cambridge."
