Hobby-X In March 2020, Hobby-X celebrated 23 years. It is a visual, interactive, creative and entertaining event. Messe Frankfurt firmly believes that, as was the case following severe financial and global economic crises in the past, trade fairs and congresses will play an important role in spurring on economic recovery and prosperity. Frédéric Bougeard will be taking over as President of Messe Frankfurt France as of April 2020 – he is joining the company as Director General on 20 January 2020. Frédéric Bougeard is succeeding Michael Scherpe, who has been in charge of the company since its establishment in 2002 and has spent some 40 years with Messe Frankfurt. As he turns 70, Scherpe is passing control of Messe Frankfurt France to his successor. In his time with the company, Michael Scherpe has succeeded in building up a highly successful subsidiary that is of great importance for the Messe Frankfurt Group, employing 25 people and currently generating some €28 million in sales. Senior management positions “He has earned our thanks and our appreciation, and we are delighted that he will continue overseeing Messe Frankfurt’s independent sales agency in France, which he took charge of in 1981,” says Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt.
