Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) swiftly responded to an emergency involving an elderly man's car colliding with a building in Sydney's west.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 am when the vehicle hit a series of brick garages on Ashley Lane, Westmead, leaving the 92-year-old driver with a minor head injury.
FRNSW Crew and Immediate Response
The driver, despite the crash, was able to walk away from the wreck. FRNSW personnel immediately rendered medical aid before NSW Ambulance paramedics transported him to the hospital.
An exclusion zone was quickly established around the crash site to ensure public safety.
Structural Damage Assessment
Firefighters with expertise in structural collapse were deployed to evaluate the extent of damage to the garages. The structures had been significantly compromised due to the collision.
Emergency Repairs and Site Handover
After coordination with the police and strata managers, control of the site was returned to the property's owners.
Plans for engaging a builder to undertake emergency repairs were set in motion, with NSW Police maintaining their presence to safeguard the area.
