Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters successfully extinguished a dynamic blaze that ravaged an automotive workshop along with multiple vehicles in Sydney's south-west. Over 30 dedicated firefighters were involved in quelling the fire, which erupted in the Carlingford Street facility in Sefton, shortly before 3 a.m.
Fire Containment Efforts and Strategies
The intense flames were effectively prevented from spreading to neighboring properties, thanks to strategic firefighting measures. Ladder trucks were utilized to gain an advantageous position over the towering blaze, which was exacerbated by the ignition of several vehicles within the workshop. Additionally, specialist cutting tools enabled the firefighting team to access the fire from the rear.
Environmental Safeguards and Investigation
To mitigate environmental impact following the incident, absorbent booms were deployed over workshop drains to contain any potential runoff. The origin of the fire is currently under investigation, as it is being treated as suspicious. FRNSW’s expert fire investigators are collaborating with NSW Police to ascertain the cause of the conflagration.
