The efforts of Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters and an inbuilt fire wall have prevented a dangerous blaze from spreading from a restaurant to an adjoining real estate office in Baulkham Hills.
Firefighters were called to the property on Old Northern Road just before midnight. On arrival, they were met by thick smoke that was billowing from the restaurant that had closed for the night.
Fire in the kitchen area
Firefighters broke into the building, locating an intense fire burning in the kitchen area. The blaze was initially knocked down, with additional crews forcing entry into the adjoining real estate agency to make sure that the fire had not taken hold in the building.
Firefighters then used an aerial ladder platform (ALP) to make sure the fire had not spread to the roof. FRNSW fire investigators attended the scene today, indicating the fire had started because of a faulty electrical appliance located in the kitchen area.
