Over 50 firefighters, aided by a water-bombing aircraft, are tackling a series of grass fires that erupted along a rail line in Albury, near the NSW-Victoria border.
The incident began when a fire broke out on an empty grain train, which had halted at an underpass close to Thurgoona Drive in Lavington just before 4 pm. The flames swiftly spread, setting grass along the rail line ablaze.
Firefighting Response
Prompted by an emergency call to Triple Zero (000), 18 fire trucks from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and the Rural Fire Service (RFS) swiftly responded to the scene.
Firefighters from FRNSW, equipped with breathing apparatus, employed CO2 extinguishers to combat the blaze on the train.
