Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is currently investigating the role of potentially faulty heat lamps in a fire that demolished a residence in Moss Vale, situated in the state's Southern Highlands.
The blaze engulfed the property on Church Road around 8 am.
FRNSW Response and Aerial Assessment
To aid in their efforts, a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), or drone, was deployed
FRNSW units from Moss Vale, Bowral, and Mittagong responded quickly to the incident. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the house was unoccupied. Firefighters attacked the intense flames from various angles; however, the fire spread rapidly to the roof, causing it to collapse.
To aid in their efforts, a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), or drone, was deployed. This provided the teams with an aerial perspective, aiding them in identifying hot spots and evaluating the extent of the destruction.
Possible Causes Under Investigation
Investigators are focused on determining the fire's origin. They are scrutinizing the possibility that heat lamps used in a Bearded Dragon lizard terrarium might have initiated the blaze.
Efforts continue to confirm the cause and assess the full impact of the fire on the property.
