Five people have been evacuated from a unit block in Pendle Hill after a burst water main caused flooding in the area.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) received a Triple Zero (000) call around midday reporting the incident in Stapleton Street.
NSW Police
Upon arrival, firefighters found large volumes of water coming from beneath the road, causing the basement area of a nearby unit block to flood. NSW Police safely evacuated the impacted residents.
FRNSW responded with additional resources to the incident, including a high volume pump and a specialized flood water rescue team who carried out a further search of the property and gave the all clear.
Integrity of the road
Water authorities have shut off the main and FRNSW is currently pumping water out of the basement. Council engineers have been requested to examine the integrity of the road and the surrounding area.
