Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) demonstrated their swift response capabilities early this morning by rescuing a truck driver involved in a road accident west of Port Macquarie on the state's mid-north coast.
A semi-trailer loaded with frozen goods veered off the Oxley Highway and collided with a tree shortly after 5 a.m. This collision left the driver trapped within the vehicle for three hours before emergency services could extricate him.

The dramatic rescue involved the use of hydraulic tools to successfully free the driver from the wreckage. Once extracted, NSW Ambulance paramedics promptly treated the injured individual at the scene.
The incident also saw collaboration from the NSW State Emergency Service and the NSW Rural Fire Service, whose personnel were on hand to offer vital assistance. Support from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) crews ensured the incident site was secured.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW emphasized the critical nature of promptly contacting emergency services in such situations. "This is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death," Dewberry stated.
He underlined that the Triple Zero (000) service is the fastest way to engage the necessary emergency resources, recommending its use for situations involving police, fire, or ambulance services, especially when lives are at risk or time is of the essence.
