Two individuals experienced minor injuries after surviving a light aircraft crash this morning near Wentworth in New South Wales' far south-west.
The incident occurred when the 'Jabiru' ultralight aircraft, facing a power loss shortly before midday, was forced to attempt an emergency landing in a flooded paddock near the Silver City Highway and Wentworth aerodrome. During the landing, the plane clipped some trees and crash-landed on the site.
Emergency Response to the Crash
Fire and Rescue NSW teams from Wentworth were quick to reach the scene of the crash.
Navigating around the floodwaters on foot, they managed to locate the pilot and a passenger. Both individuals received initial treatment for their injuries at the site.
Medical and Investigative Actions
Subsequently, NSW Ambulance, along with NSW Police and the Rural Fire Service, arrived on the scene. The injured were transported by road to Mildura Base Hospital for more comprehensive medical care.
The authorities have sealed off the crash area as investigations into the incident proceed.
