Advanced, a pioneer in the design, manufacture and supply of intelligent fire systems, have worked with NBS to produce a comprehensive range of certified BIM objects for their fire panels, now listed on the NBS National BIM Library.

Available to download for free from the library, the new data-rich BIM objects allow the very latest in fire systems technology from Advanced to be easily incorporated into a 3D building model by specifiers, architects and contractors using BIM building practices.

Making products more accessible

As a tool for architects, engineers and other specifiers, BIM is transforming the way buildings are designed"John Newton, Head of Products and Services at Advanced, said: “As a tool for architects, engineers and other specifiers, BIM is transforming the way buildings are designed. We have always understood the need to evolve with new technology for the benefit of our customers and decided to invest in BIM objects to make our products more accessible to architects and designers and to further extend the visibility of our brand.

Within weeks of going live on the NBS National BIM Library, we saw significant interest and uptake in our BIM objects from customers across Europe, North America and the Middle East. With fire safety, in particular, being such a vital requirement in public and commercial building projects it makes sense to incorporate the latest technology into the design.

EN54-2,4 & 13 approved MxPro 5 panel

Included in Advanced’s range of BIM objects is the flagship MxPro 5 range, approved to EN54-2,4 & 13 and available in one-to-eight-loop variants as standard, with further custom-build options available. It is easily configured into high speed, 200 panel peer-peer networks, covering huge areas and tens of thousands of field devices. It includes high performance repeaters and remote control terminals with a range of different control and indicating options, including Advanced’s TouchControl touchscreen repeater that features Active Maps and zone plans.

The latest NBS National BIM Report shows that BIM usage and awareness continues to grow

Holly Burrows, Account Manager at NBS, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Advanced on our NBS National BIM Library. Choosing NBS to author their BIM objects means that they will be uniquely integrated within our digital BIM ecosystem that is used by construction industry professionals of all disciplines around the world. It’s great to see the response they’ve received from our customers and I very much look forward to continuing to support Advanced on their BIM Journey.

Mandated use of BIM software for projects

In the UK and overseas, BIM is increasingly used by architects and designers, with the latest NBS National BIM Report showing that BIM usage and awareness continues to grow. The UK Government mandated the use of BIM across all centrally procured projects in April 2016. Since 2014 in Dubai, a growing export market for Advanced, mandate for BIM software has been made compulsory for all major projects and buildings (developments of over 40 stories or 300,000ft2), alongside all Government, hospital, university and school projects.

Advanced is a pioneer in the development and manufacture of intelligent fire systems. The legendary performance, quality and ease of use of its products sees Advanced specified in locations all over the world, from single panel installations to large, multi-site networks. Advanced’s products include complete fire detection systems, multi-protocol fire panels, extinguishing control, fire paging and false alarm management systems.
