The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has named Lisa Marie Sinatra as the new Associate Project Manager of Communications, focusing on NFPA's Wildland Fire Operations Division and Firewise Communities program.
"In response to the increased frequency of wildland fire events that threaten lives and properties across the globe, NFPA is expanding its safety outreach in this area," said Lorraine Carli, NFPA's vice president of communications. "We are thrilled to have Lisa Marie join our team to help communicate our expertise as it relates to wildland fire safety with major focus on NFPA's Firewise Communities program, which helps communities learn how to take steps to reduce risks associated with wildfire."
Sinatra has worked in the communications/public affairs departments of, among others: New York University Medical Center; Boston University School of Law; and University of Massachusetts Lowell. Most recently, as a contractor with Entertaining Diversity, Inc., she worked with the Massachusetts and Connecticut Departments of Public Health to help develop a strategic plan for their campaigns aimed at underserved and minority demographics.
Sinatra received a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in English/concentration in journalism from the University of New Hampshire. She is about to receive a master's from the College of Communication at Boston University in spring 2011.
