This is an extension of their existing BAFE SP203 accreditation for maintenance of fire alarms. BAFE SP203-1 accreditation The BAFE SP203-1 accreditation ensures that all elements of fire alarm design, installation, commissioning, handover, and maintenance are now covered by this independent third party, industry recognized accreditation. In order to achieve BAFE SP203-1 accreditation, Abbot Fire Group demonstrated that they are working to the latest standards and best practice for fire alarm design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. Management systems are checked and verified by UKAS trained assessors, and this process is continued on an annual basis. The SP203-1 accreditation complements the other existing BAFE accreditations held by Abbot Fire Group, including SP101 Fire Extinguisher Service Provider and SP206 Kitchen Fire Protection System Service Provider. Fire protection services company Abbot Fire Group are delighted to be the first company in the UK to achieve BAFE SP206, the third party approval scheme for Kitchen Fire Protection System Provider. BAFE, who maintain the fire protection register of third party approved contractors, launches this new scheme at the end of 2018. Abbot Fire Group were keen to become the first company in the UK to achieve this accreditation, having been designing, installing, and maintaining Ansul kitchen fire suppression systems for customers for over 10 years. Third party accreditation scheme The SP206 scheme covers competency for the design, installation, commissioning, recharge and maintenance of kitchen fire suppression systems. When Abbot Fire Group started installing, servicing, and maintaining Ansul kitchen fire suppression systems 10 years ago, Nigel Walton, Director at Abbot Fire Group, was staggered to see the amount of poor quality work within this market sector. He was surprised that no independent third party accreditation scheme existed within the UK which covered all aspects of kitchen fire suppression system work, namely design, installation, servicing and maintenance. Buckingham based Abbot Fire Group is delighted to once again be offering free fire extinguisher hire for local community, charity, or not-for-profit bonfire or firework events. The company is offering 24 fire extinguishers for hire to the first callers to ring Abbot Fire Group, just mentioning this offer. Community neighborhood bonfire The offer is open to those locally organizing a bona fide not-for-profit or community neighborhood bonfire or firework event. Abbot Fire Group will discuss the event with the organizer, including the likely number of attendees, and ensure the fire safety requirements are covered by a suitable number of extinguishers on the night, up to a maximum of 8 fire extinguishers per event. Nigel Walton, Director at Abbot Fire Group said: “This is the eleventh year we have run this initiative to help keep the local community safe on bonfire night. Safety is an important part of any firework or bonfire event for both the organizers and the attendees. One year one of the extinguishers had to be used to extinguisher a rogue firework, which demonstrates why we run this offer. We want the local community to enjoy the events safely.”
Abbot Fire Group are delighted to have taken delivery of a new Mercedes Benz Citan van for the passive fire protection side of the business. The growth in passive fire protection work, also known as fire stopping, has resulted in a need for a new vehicle to accompany the existing Abbot Fire Group fleet. Nigel Walton, Director at Abbot Fire Group said: “As the business continues to grow, we had a need for a specific vehicle which could accommodate the passive fire protection side of the business. We’re pleased to have increased the size of Abbot Fire Group’s fleet, and in doing so support another local business.” complementing the existing fleet Justin Boon, Group Retail Manager at Mercedes-Benz Intercounty Truck & Vans located in Milton Keynes commented: “It’s a pleasure to be able to supply another van to complement Abbot Fire Group’s existing fleet. The certificate was presented by Ruth Tucker, LPCB Installer Scheme Manager, to Nigel Walton, Manager Director of Abbot Fire Group.
