Viking Group, Inc., a global provider of fire protection and life safety systems, introduced a new digital tool that assists its users in the configuration of Viking valve and trim selections. The new “Valve and System Configurator” simplifies the complex process of identifying and ordering the proper valve and trim combination for virtually any fire protection challenge. The configurator allows customers to interactively build a complete system riser for Viking’s wet, dry, deluge and preaction systems. Additional systems, including flow control, pressure regulation, and Firecycle, will be added in the spring. Valve and System Configurator “Viking offers hundreds, if not thousands, of valve and trim combinations,” said Jeff Norton, Vice President of Marketing for Viking Group. “Our digital solutions team worked tirelessly to ensure that this tool saves time and produces just the right solution for our customers’ needs.” In the configurator, customers first select their desired system type. Next, the configurator walks the user through selecting an appropriate valve, trim set, and available system options. Throughout the configuration process, a representative 3D model of the system is dynamically rendered, allowing the specific system to be analyzed from any angle. After all the selections are made, a summary is generated with a complete bill of materials including part number, description, and quantity. This list can be sent to Viking SupplyNet automatically for quoting. Finally, a zip file is provided that contains all related technical documentation for the system riser, including technical data sheets, trim diagrams, and friction loss charts.
The Viking Corporation, a global pioneer in fire protection and life safety systems, has released an updated version of its “Valve & System Support” smart phone app. In addition to wet and dry systems, this new release includes select deluge and preaction systems. For each system type, customers have access to a wealth of information including technical data, service and repair videos, system animations, and detailed troubleshooting support. Augmented Reality Feature “For our customers, it's truly like having a Viking technical representative available on demand, 24/7.” said Jeff Norton, VP Marketing. “We’ve added an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) feature allowing users to easily identify key components of each system using their phone or tablet camera.” Once the camera has recognized the valve, a model of the valve trim is overlaid on top of the valve, including labels of key trim components. This feature provides service technicians with a quick orientation to a given Viking system. Product Maintenance And Repair Videos The application features 30 new product maintenance and repair videos. If repair to a valve is recommended, customers can quickly identify the service parts needed and submit a request to Viking SupplyNet for the required parts. Users can also follow detailed, step-by-step troubleshooting for a wide variety of service and maintenance topics, and review dozens of FAQs, conveniently organized by system type. The Viking Mobile App is available for both Android and iOS. Customers can download from Google Play or the Apple Store by searching for “Viking Valve.” Additional deluge, preaction, and flow control systems are scheduled to be included in future releases.
