Matthew Broughton and Gareth Taylor are the winners of the Chubb 2011 Apprenticeship Awards - recognising the excellence of their achievements in the company’s 2011 apprenticeship scheme.

The Apprenticeship Awards are given to the two top achievers within the Chubb Fire & Security and Chubb Systems apprenticeship programmes. Each programme is designed to provide the students with a highly developed skill-set, enabling them to excel within the Chubb working environment and deliver excellent customer service.

Matthew Broughton, based in the Newcastle Branch, was given the Chubb Fire & Security Award in recognition of his professionalism, as well as his positive approach to customers and colleagues. His course work was also acknowledged by the judging panel to be of a high standard. All Fire & Security apprentices spend up to 3½ years working towards Level 3 C&G technical certificate and NVQ achievements.

Gareth Taylor received the Chubb Systems Award for his hard work and studying which was recognised as exceeding the standards demanded by the apprenticeship. All of the Chubb Systems’ apprentices follow a four-year programme, which begins with a one-year full time study of theoretical and practical electrical, mechanical and electronic training leading to Level 3 NVQ and Level 4 HNC/D in the 4th year.

With the Apprentice awards, the Chubb brand continues to lead the industry in providing high-quality accredited training for its core engineering specialisation, setting itself apart from its competitors, says David Millett, Head of Learning & Development, Chubb Fire & Security. “Chubb stands to gain real competitive advantage in having a work force that is both well trained and professional,” he says.
“Our apprenticeship training and development programmes give our employees opportunities that are the envy of our competitors.”
