Summer cook off show is a perfect opportunity to show that firehouse cooking can be healthy as well as delicious
Final cook-off will be on August 20, with the winner receiving $10,000

If you have a recipe that promotes good health and tastes great, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) encourages you to submit it for your chance to win.

Help promote healthy eating in the fire service while entering for a chance to win $10,000. Television show LIVE! with Regis and Kelly is holding a Coast-to-Coast Fire House Cook-Off this summer. Firefighters can submit their favourite recipe, and each week one firefighter recipe will be featured on the show. The final cook-off will be August 20, with the winner receiving $10,000 and the recipe will be published in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.

This is a perfect opportunity to show that firehouse cooking can be healthy as well as delicious. If you have a recipe that promotes good health and tastes great, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) encourages you to submit it for your chance to win. On the entry form, let the reviewers know how important heart-healthy recipes are in the fire service. Heart attack is the number one cause of line-of-duty deaths, and healthy eating is an important step in reversing this trend.

If your recipe is selected, promote the messages of the NVFC Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program as part of your feature and let firefighters and the public know how important it is to stay healthy. Inform the NVFC in advance of your feature so that staff can help provide heart-health information as well as alert our membership to watch your segment.

Enter the Fire House Cook-Off at the following link. Entries must be received by July 30. Contact the NVFC at mail id or 888-ASK-NVFC.
