Linder Unitrac has the capability to move easily on steep roads and mountainous areas
The vehicle is compact line body built on unitrac chasis
The community of Betten-Bettmeralp (Canton Wallis) is an idyllic mountain village with a population of around 400 inhabitants and comprises the main village of Betten (1200 m above sea level) and the popular tourist location Bettmeralp (1950 m above sea level). The two parts of the community are only connected by a forest track, or a funicular. Not the easiest of conditions for the local fire service. This is why the members of the local fire service decided to have a Compact Line (CL) light-weight body built by Rosenbauer on a Unitrac chassis - the first of its kind.

Highly maneuverable - the Lindner Unitrac

For a long time, Betten Fire Department has deliberated and compared various vehicles in an intensive search for the best-suited vehicle to replace their Chevrolet fire truck that had been in service since 1975. They were finally convinced by the many benefits offered by a CL-series fire truck. The TLFA 1400 fire truck on a Lindner Unitrac 102 L chassis with all-wheel drive is a very compact and maneuverable all-terrain vehicle. Despite an overall weight of 8 tons, the Swiss fire officers can still drive the TLFA 1400 with their normal car driving licenses because its top speed is just 40 km/h. These are all important considerations for a fire truck at the heart of the Swiss mountains where there are more or less no tarmac roads and steep climbs are often necessary.

CompactLine - the ideal vehicle design for Betten

Rosenbauer's Compact Line has proved useful for fire departments for travel in harsh terrains

The Rosenbauer Compact Line series has in the past proved to be the ideal vehicle for fire departments that faced difficult local terrain due to narrow and steep roads. The benefits offered by the CL body speak for themselves and many international fire departments already rely on this vehicle concept. The Compact Line's use of sandwich-built sheets for the roof and flooring make the use of an additional supporting frame unnecessary. This allows for both a low overall vehicle height and enormous weight savings. The remaining payload is around 2,000 kg.

N10 normal-pressure pump - the compact power pack

Another highlight offered by this fully featured vehicle is the N10 normal-pressure pump. The N10, with a pump output of 1,500 l / min at 10 bar, makes a substantial contribution to the TLFA 1400's weight savings thanks to its own low weight and compact dimensions. As told, the Lindner Unitrac and the compact CL lightweight body, in combination with the powerful N10, are an ideal combination for any operations mounted by the Betten Fire Department.
