Johnson Controls has introduced new 8-inch color touchscreen displays for the Autocall 4100ES and 4010ES fire alarm control units. These enhanced ES Touch Screen Displays (ES TSD) aim to boost fire panel performance by providing users with more detailed information, improved user interface features, and better aesthetics.
A significant advantage of these displays is their ability to show up to eight color-coded events concurrently, allowing users and first responders to quickly access crucial data without extensive scrolling.
The resistive touch screens are designed to be used with gloves, enabling first responders to operate the panels without removing protective gear.

Peter Ebersold, Senior Product Manager at Johnson Controls, explained, “The new ES Series of touch screen displays allow facility operators to select how they want to show information to first responders. By organizing information in different sequences – either in order of occurrence, by most recent, or a combination – we’re giving first responders all the necessary data in a snapshot so they can make an informed decision quickly.”
This flexibility is complemented by the system’s multi-language capability, which supports easy switching between two programmed languages from six available options, facilitating faster response during emergencies.
Improved System Functionality and Aesthetics
In addition to the ES TSD, Johnson Controls is also launching two large color touchscreen remote annunciators for the Autocall 4100ES and 4010ES models.
Peter Ebersold highlighted that this new offering delivers a consistent user experience across all ES fire alarm control units. Ebersold noted, “The new line-up offers a consistent user experience across all ES fire alarm control units. It also allows customers to upgrade their existing system without having to replace the complete control units, which reduces downtime and shortens service time.”
New displays with modern design
The new displays impart a modern appearance, suitable for public spaces, and support custom logos and contact information for enhanced branding and aesthetics. Additionally, a key lock feature ensures that the system is protected from unauthorized access.
The 4100ES and 4010ES control units with these displays meet code compliance standards for North American use, including ULC certification for Canada.
