Motorists are advised to avoid the Lane Cove Tunnel due to significant disruptions caused by a truck fire earlier this morning. At approximately 6:30 am, Five Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews responded to reports of a mobile crane truck engulfed in flames.
Blaze Contained by Sprinkler System
The tunnel's sprinkler system successfully managed the blaze until firefighters fully extinguished it. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, although several individuals had to evacuate their vehicles as a safety measure. The east-bound lanes remain closed, while the west-bound lanes are experiencing severe traffic disruptions.
Removal of Fire-Damaged Truck Anticipated
A heavy tow truck has been called in to remove the damaged vehicle from the scene. Traffic is expected to be affected for an extended period as clearing operations continue.
