Over 50 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters successfully tackled a fire that swept through two adjacent homes in Sydney's western suburb of West Hoxton.
The blaze ignited at the back of a property located at the intersection of Temma Place and St Marys Street shortly before 11:30 a.m.
NSW Fire Response and Assistance
The fire caused several small explosions, sending plumes of smoke across the suburb. Upon notification, FRNSW crews, with support from the NSW Rural Fire Service, promptly arrived at the scene and set about controlling the flames.
The fire's intensity was exacerbated by strong winds, which helped spread it to a neighboring home.
Fire Containment Efforts
Firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading further, successfully averting damage to a third house that was at risk.
A woman who was inside one of the affected properties managed to escape unharmed prior to the fire's escalation. She was evaluated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but was not in need of any further medical assistance.
Ongoing Investigation
FRNSW teams remain at the location to extinguish any lingering hotspots and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the fire's cause.
Their efforts have been critical in managing the situation and mitigating the potential for additional property damage in the area.
