A significant fire overnight severely damaged an opportunity shop and warehouse in Byron Bay, located on the northern coast of New South Wales.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to numerous reports of the blaze on Grevillea Street shortly after 8:30 PM. Upon arrival, the initial firefighting team quickly requested additional support as the structure began to collapse.

Officials were particularly concerned about several LPG cylinders located at an adjacent taxi base and a nearby fallen powerline, prompting the evacuation of neighboring residences as a precaution. Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported.
Blaze Containment and Investigation
Firefighters worked tirelessly for six hours to confine the flames to the 18 x 30-meter, two-story building, successfully protecting surrounding properties. However, just after 7:30 AM, the fire reignited and began to smolder.
This was rapidly dealt with by FRNSW crews, who will stay on-site throughout the day to monitor the situation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
