Allen Fire Department is using FLAME-SIM to increase its performance capability
FLAME-SIM simulation software helps firefighters train effectively

The City of Allen Fire Department (AFD) in Allen, TX received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Innovation from The Alliance for Innovation which they received at the Transforming Local Government Conference in Las Vegas on June 3, 2010. AFD received the award for their use of virtual emergency command training for operational readiness.

The virtual emergency command training in place at The Allen Fire Department is FLAME-SIM. FLAME-SIM is the latest in training simulation software and is giving fire departments across the US and Canada a virtual world in which to train their incident commanders and firefighters. The real time, dynamic environment simulates the stress, obstacles and decision points that arise on the fireground in order to better prepare incident commanders.

The Allen Fire Department has been using FLAME-SIM for almost two years and the cutting edge training simulation software has had a significant positive impact on AFD's communication and decision based procedures on the fireground. Assistant Chief Dr. Kurt Hall and Division Chief of Training Jonathan Boyd spoke about their experiences with FLAME-SIM and its effectiveness. The video of their speech can be viewed at the following link.
