The NVFC Lifetime Achievement Award recognises outstanding volunteer firefighter performance

National award recognises volunteer firefighter achievement

Nominate an outstanding volunteer firefighter for the 2009 National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Lifetime Achievement Award. Sponsored by Scott Health & Safety, this prestigious national award annually recognizes an individual whose remarkable achievements in the fire service and community exemplifies outstanding performance. 

Nominations must be received by 5 pm EDT on August 3.

To be considered for the award, nominees must have been a volunteer firefighter for at least 20 years.

Each nominee will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Nominee has made a major contribution or has achieved significant accomplishments in the volunteer fire service on a local, state, and/or national level.
  • Nominee has demonstrated superior dedication to the volunteer fire service and has served as a volunteer firefighter for at least 20 years.
  • Nominee has been active in their state firefighters' association.
  • Nominee has demonstrated community impact through the fire service or other volunteer activities.

The recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award will be recognized at a special Awards Banquet in conjunction with the NVFC Fall Board Meeting in Coralville, IA. The recipient will receive travel and accommodation to attend the banquet; guest of honor status at the banquet; complimentary registration for the Fall Board Meeting; complimentary one-year personal membership to the NVFC; a personalized award; and a place in NVFC history.

To nominate a volunteer firefighter, submit a nomination form, an essay describing the nominee's achievements, a resume or background sheet, two letters of recommendation, and up to three additional supporting documents. Specific criteria and nomination packet requirements are available at here.
