Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service would like to send a message of thanks to all those that supported the latest Fire Fighters Charity National Car Wash which took place on Saturday 19th September at local stations across Greater Manchester.

The total amount raised was almost £20,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity which supports firefighters and their families in times of need throughout the UK.

The event saw staff from all departments within the service pull together throughout the day with many giving up the weekend to make the event a success.

The Fire Fighters Charity has three dedicated centres in the UK providing physiotherapy services, rehabilitation and recuperation for both serving and retired Fire and Rescue personnel. The money raised this weekend will provide support to ensure fire and rescue staff can continue to access these centres.

Deputy County Fire Officer Kieran Nolan said "The continued support that the Charity receives from members of the public is extremely valued by all within our service. I would like to extend sincere thanks on behalf of the Fire Fighters Charity to both the public of Greater Manchester and our staff for their outstanding efforts."

In addition to having their cars washed thousands of people also received essential fire safety advice on the day from fire crews and a number of bookings for Home Fire Safety Risk Assessments were taken.
