Pierce's innovative fire truck displayed at Interschutz 2010
The Pierce Ultimate Configuration
(PUC) from Pierce Manufacturing of
Appleton, WIS., USA

Pierce municipal fire truck was showcased at world’s largest fire and emergency show i.e. Interschutz 2010.

Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) Company and part of Oshkosh Corporation’s Fire & Emergency Segment, is displaying its innovative Pierce Ultimate Configuration (PUC) vehicle at Interschutz in Leipzig, Germany today through June 12. First introduced in 2007, the PUC, which is engineered to operate on a shorter wheelbase while also being able to carry more emergency equipment, is among the most successful products in Pierce Manufacturing history. Pierce will be exhibiting in Hall2, Stand F03.

"The Pierce PUC is ideal for municipal firefighting and emergency response challenges; its innovative technologies and compact design make it a vehicle worthy of close inspection for fire and emergency departments attending Interschutz," said Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Fire & Emergency. "From its space saving firefighting system to its smaller overall size, the PUC has proven itself on narrow streets and in tight quarters.”

The PUC is a multi-purpose response vehicle that is engineered to eliminate the need for a bulky pumphouse. The PUC features a simplified two-step pump shift operation and redesigned pump panel for easier use. The entire pump system is located above the frame for easier and quicker service and maintenance. With a wheelbase for improved manoeuverability (as short as 4.37 meters/172-inches), the PUC also provides up to 14.16 cubic-meters (500 cubic feet) of equipment storage. The PUC is available on all Pierce custom chassis in side and top mount pump panel configurations, as well as on 22.9-meter (75-foot) aluminum aerial ladders.  For more information click here
