Wessex has created a new logo as it continues to grow and diversify into new areas

Wessex Fire & Security has announced a revision to its iconic logo as it continues to grow and diversify into new areas.

The fast-expanding company is part of the Wessex Group, which is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The fire and security firm’s distinctive owl logo is familiar across the South on alarm boxes and its fleet of vans.

But it has decided to bring the design more in line with the other companies in the group, which is based in Shaftesbury, Dorset.

Wessex Fire & Security has a turnover of £7 million and directly employs approaching 80 staff across the region.

The process of adopting the new logo, in which the owl has moved and the lines freshened, has already begun.

It will slowly be adopted on the alarm boxes – known as bell boxes - the fleet, and on the company’s stationery and website.

Managing Director Chris Stott said: “The new logo is a better fit with the other Wessex Group brands, and it lends itself well to bell boxes and signage on our vehicles.

“It embraces both continuity and change and is a readily recognisable evolution of the previous logo.

“We thought it fitting make the change during the group’s 50th anniversary this year.”

Wessex Fire & Security was first established in 1984 as a trading division of Wessex Electricals, the company that began 50 years ago, and it was branded as Wessex Alarms.

To reflect the ever broadening work undertaken by the company, in 1998 Wessex Alarms changed its name to Wessex Fire and Security and was incorporated as a separate company in the same year.

From its origins as primarily a burglar alarm installation and maintenance business, the company has become a leading regional specialist in fire detection and alarm system installation and maintenance, fire extinguisher supply and maintenance as well as embracing the full spectrum of security specialisations including CCTV and access control.
