The Fire and Rescue NSW fleet at Lake Macquarie has been significantly boosted with the arrival of a state-of-the-art Rescue Pumper, valued at almost half-a-million dollars.
The Iveco-brand Class 2 pumper will provide firefighters working out of the Morisset Fire Station with another major resource to combat structural, chemical, fuel and grass fires. The $470,000 truck is fitted with an environmentally beneficial Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS), which means it can pump a water and foam mix at a rate superior to other fire trucks.

Its other main capability relates to rescues and a large range of related equipment has been stowed into the truck in readiness for all types of extrication assignments.
Morisset Captain, Darren Lulka, welcomed the installation of the new pumper in the station.

“The versatility of the appliance is impressive,” said Captain Lulka, adding “Whether we’re responding to a house fire or a freeway vehicle crash where rescues are required, this truck can do it all.”
Minister for the Hunter, Yasmin Catley, said the Morisset pumper is one of many new and varied FRNSW vehicles recently installed at fire stations across the state.
“These pumpers and Bushfire Tankers are heading to where they are most needed, providing crews with the best vehicles available to get the job done,” said Minister Catley, adding “In this case, we’re proud to replace a vehicle that’s reached the end of its service life with a modern, highly capable rescue truck, straight off the production line.”
