Robin Finegan will be regional administrator for Region VIII
Regional administrators are crucial for handling emergency situations
Robin Finegan has more than 20 years of experience in crisis management and community preparedness.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate has applauded President Obama's appointment of Robin Finegan as FEMA Regional Administrator for Region VIII, which encompasses Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

"Regional Administrators are crucial to our ability to respond effectively to emergencies based on the needs of the communities we serve," said Fugate. "Robin Finegan brings a wide range of experience to FEMA, and has shown herself to be a dedicated public servant." Finegan has more than 20 years of experience in crisis management and community preparedness, much of it in Colorado. Her work in disaster mental health, public information, and survivor services has earned her numerous awards and recognitions.

Robin Finegan has worked in recovery missions following Hurricane Katrina

Robin Finegan most recently served as the Director of Fraud Prevention for the Denver District Attorney's office and was a managing partner at FF&A Crisis Management Consulting, where she has provided training and support to communities, schools and organizations in disaster preparedness and response.

As a member of the IBM Human Impact Team, Finegan worked with both businesses and survivors in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. She has developed training materials related to crisis management, large-scale disasters, school violence and public information for the Department of Justice, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, National Sheriff's Administration, and the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention.

Finegan has received numerous professional awards and recognition for her work. She holds master's degrees from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and Regis University in Denver, Colo.
