Their role is crucial for assessing the integrity, safety, and durability of construction projects, aligning with both local authority expectations and Mauritian regulations.
The SOCOTEC Group's Quality and Safety Department has customized a reference system tailored to the Mauritian context and established a specific quality management system to address these needs.
The Role of Inherent Structural Defect Insurance
Christophe Draux, the Head of SOCOTEC MTS, emphasized the importance of an independent third-party assessment to manage risk levels effectively: “To support the dynamism of projects in Mauritius, it is important to ensure that an independent third party assesses the risk and helps to bring it to an acceptable and compliant level, known as 'normalized'.”
He further explained, “The purpose of the ‘risk normalization’ mission is to provide insurers with the information necessary to assess the risk assumed under the Inherent Structural Defect Insurance, in order to reduce risks and avoid litigation in the field of construction defects.”

With the newly acquired COFRAC accreditation and the expertise of engineers registered with the CRPE, SOCOTEC MTS positions itself as the indispensable 'Third Party Certifier' within Mauritius, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing building safety and compliance standards across the nation.
