Electro-Optical Sensor Systems

100 Dragoneye Electro-Optical Sensor Systems, supplied from ASELSAN to prevent irregular migrant movements on Turkey's southeastern border, were put into use by the Land Forces Command.

A ceremony was held at the Akyurt campus of the company for the deliveries within the scope of the Supply Contract for Increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Southeastern Border, carried out with the contribution of the European Union.

ASELSAN Chairman of the Board and General Manager Prof. Dr. in his speech at the ceremony, Haluk Görgün said that ASELSAN, which was established to produce radio systems, has become a technology base that can export to 73 countries with advanced electronic products in 46 years.

Pointing out that the company has produced domestic and national solutions to difficult problems since the day it was founded, Görgün stated that these are offered to the use of friendly and allied countries as well as Turkey.

Dragoneye system

Pointing out that the Dragoneye system is one of the products in ASELSAN's wide range of electro-optical products, Görgün stated that they offer a series of solutions that operate in very different conditions and platforms to users.

Stating that they have delivered over 700 Dragoneye systems in Turkey and abroad to date, Görgün noted that the products delivered at the ceremony will be used by the Land Forces elements in the border troops.

284 cameras will be delivered

Köse stated that 284 thermal cameras will be delivered to the border troops on the Syrian border

Central Finance and Contracts Unit Deputy Head Barbaros Murat Köse said that the project was supported within the scope of the 2016 financing agreement signed with the European Commission.

Noting that a contract worth 28 million euros was signed for the project, of which the General Directorate of Provincial Administration and the Land Forces Command are the beneficiaries, Köse stated that in this context, 284 thermal cameras will be delivered to the border troops on the Syrian border.

procurement and construction activities

Köse stated that in another project with a budget of approximately 109 million Euros, signed in 2019 and carried out with ASELSAN, the procurement and construction activities of border watchtowers continue at 352 points on the eastern and western borders, and the works have been completed to a large extent.

Köse stated that these projects made significant contributions to Turkey's full membership process to the European Union.

responsibility of humanity

Our internal security units and armed forces are making every effort with their knowledge, experience, technology"

Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut thanked Turkey for accepting Syrians. Explaining that they support the countries that accept Syrian refugees, Meyer-Landrut stated that there will be no problems as long as the process is carried out within the framework of "legal-regular immigration".

Mehmet Ersoy, Deputy Minister of Interior, emphasized that Turkey acts with the responsibility of humanity on issues related to migration that have arisen due to instability. Explaining that the border units are supported with physical and technological systems for the protection of borders, Ersoy said, "Our internal security units and armed forces are making every effort with their knowledge, experience, technology, capability, and experience."

ASELSAN's "sharp eye"

Within the scope of the project, of which the Ministry of Interior and the Land Forces Command is the beneficiary, a Procurement Contract for Increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Southeastern Border was signed between ASELSAN, which won the international tender, and the Central Finance and Contracts Unit of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, on 12 October 2020.

85 percent of the contract budget was financed by the European Union and the remaining 15 percent by the national budget.

modern and integrated system

Dragoneye Electro-Optical Sensor System offers reconnaissance and surveillance day and night

A large number of Dragoneye Electro-Optical Sensor Systems will be delivered within the scope of the contract coordinated by the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Provincial Administration. The Land Forces Command will be the end user of the systems. Supplied systems will be used by border units located in the provinces of Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, and Şırnak.

Dragoneye Electro-Optical Sensor System offers reconnaissance and surveillance opportunities day and night and in adverse weather conditions, and acts as a modern and integrated electro-optical sensor system that is resistant to military conditions.

long-range detection, thermal & color day vision

The system enables long-range detection of targets in reconnaissance and surveillance missions, due to the thermal and color day vision camera containing high-capability sensors and image processing algorithms. In addition, the coordinate information of the detected targets is presented to the user with high accuracy thanks to the laser distance meter, laser target pointer, GPS, and digital magnetic compass integrated into the system.

The system can detect moving targets from long distances, give an audible warning, and track targets when requested, thanks to the operator control unit and motorized guidance unit, which consists of a touch-screen computer and a multi-functional control arm.
