KME shows new ARFF trucks at FDIC

KME Fire Apparatus unveiled its new FORCE series of ARFF trucks at FDIC this year with a KME Force 1500 on display.

The KME Force Series is a complete line of ARFF vehicles that feature an industry leading design in 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 and Air Transportable configurations. KME also manufactures a full line of Rapid Intervention Vehicles (RIVs) giving KME one of the broadest lines of apparatus available to airports today.

The Force line brings innovation to ARFF apparatus by introducing a completely new design which features a GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) cab and body. The material is high in strength, but also reduces weight allowing for a high power to weight ratio for improved maneuverability and acceleration.

The Force series ARFF vehicles also include industry leading visibility and superior compartmentation. The high visibility cab features the innovative use of glass, extensive insulation, a curved windshield and a user friendly control design which results in a cab that exceeds the standards for visibility, crew comfort and sound insulation.

The body has generous compartmentation, and an open through pump compartment for ease of maintenance. The integral water and foam tank yields an extremely low center of gravity and excellent weight distribution for maximum stability and safety. Keeping maintenance and service in mind, the hinged engine enclosure opens completely from each side to allow excellent access for maintenance and service. The entire engine enclosure can be easily removed for complete access in the event of a major repair or engine overhaul.

The Force 1500 on display at FDIC is a 4x4, Class IV apparatus featuring:

  • 1500 gallons of water and 200 gallons of foam
  • Caterpillar C-18 Engine
  • Twin Disc Integrated Transmission System
  • Variable rate coil spring over live rigid axle suspension
  • 500 lb Dry chemical system
  • 2000 GPM Hale Pump
  • Twin Agent Handline
  • HID and LED Scene Lighting
  • LED warning light package
  • Roll up doors with LED Compartment lighting
  • Cab Seating for four (4)
