North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue logo, the service want to highlight the work of its Road Rescue team
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service is launching a new Blog, Facebook and Twitter page

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are giving the public the chance to have an insight into the work of its award winning Road Rescue team through the power of social media.

The team is launching a new Blog, Facebook page and Twitter feed to coincide with them travelling to New Zealand to compete in the World Rescue Challenge later this month.

Team Manager, Andy Young, along with Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Chris Anderson, will be blogging about the team exploits ‘down under’ and there will be regular updates on the team’s Facebook and Twitter pages from other members of the team.

Chris Anderson, who founded the Road Rescue team six years ago, said: “We want to give people the opportunity to see the work that the Road Rescue team does on a day to day basis in developing skills and techniques in competitions that ultimately lead to us improving our response to incidents  on the roads of North Yorkshire.”

“Social media gives us a great opportunity to engage with people and demonstrate this work to them in a variety of ways.”
