Hardstaff Barriers hates food waste as much as it hates industrial waste. That’s why it donated a range of hot drinks, fast-approaching their best before dates, to their local food bank.

Hardstaff donated the boxes of hot chocolate and soup from its Nottinghamshire office, which staff had been unable to consume during the lockdown, to Clifton NG11 Foodbank.

Environmental and sustainable commitment

As a UK manufacturer and supplier of precast concrete road safety and security barriers, Hardstaff donated as part of its commitment to sustainability and its ongoing support for local communities.

Reducing FLW could lead to significant improvements in food security

Research carried out by the University of Sheffield’s Institute for Sustainable Food showed that reducing food loss and waste (FLW) could lead to significant improvements in food security and environmental sustainability.

Clifton NG11 Foodbank

Clifton NG11 Foodbank, supported by The Trussell Trust, provides three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to the foodbank in crisis. It is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK, based on the firm belief that nobody should have to face going hungry.

Wendy White, NG11 Foodbank Manager, said, “Such generous and thoughtful contributions feed and treat vulnerable people in our area. All the volunteers at our foodbank can vouch for the pleasure and relief these donations bring to local people in need, especially in these exceedingly difficult times. Together, we do make a difference.”
