Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) regrets to advise of the death of a firefighter at a house fire at Grose Vale, north-west of Sydney, this morning. The 51-year-old FRNSW on-call firefighter was among the first crews responding to the house, which became engulfed in flames, on Grose Vale Road just before 8 am.
FRNSW and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) firefighters both performed CPR until paramedics arrived and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigating the circumstances
FRNSW is working with other authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and also provide support to the man’s family, his crew, and the others impacted by this tragedy.
FRNSW’s condolences are with the firefighter’s family, friends, and colleagues at this tragic time.
