Skills for Security has partnered with C-TEC to strengthen the training opportunities for apprentice fire and security technicians through greater access to current technologies and direct engagement with industry expertise. C-TEC’s involvement will include providing equipment for training, technical resources and the expertise of its engineering and product development teams. Apprentices will benefit from demonstrations and discussions that show how design choices affect performance, usability and long-term maintenance. How such systems are designed, installed Apprentices will work with fire alarm, evacuation alert and lockdown systems used across the UK, helping to gain a clear understanding of how such systems are designed, installed and maintained in line with relevant British Standards and industry regulations. By highlighting the pros and cons of various fire detector types, from simple but effective conventional technology to programmable devices with sophisticated algorithms, attendees will gain a good understanding of which devices to employ to detect different types of fire AND significantly reduce false alarms in high-rise, mixed-use and other residential buildings.
