Obama's pick for U.S. Fire Administration receives NFPA support

Citing his many years of experience in the fire service and his leadership at both the local and national level, James M. Shannon, president and CEO of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) urged Congress to approve the appointment of Kelvin Cochran as U.S. Fire Administrator.

"Kelvin Cochran has been an active member of the fire service and worked tirelessly for many years to advance fire safety. His demonstrated passion and expertise will serve the nation well," said Shannon.

NFPA has been a worldwide leader in providing fire, electrical, building, and life safety to the public since 1896.

The mission of the international nonprofit organization is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education.
