Under the motto ‘Space for Innovation’, Techtextil, the globally renowned international trade fair for technical textiles and non-wovens, presented the entire spectrum of technical textiles, functional apparel textiles, and textile technologies and their potential applications, earlier this year, from the 14th to 17th May 2019. Techtextil 2019 As one of the long-term international exhibitors, Lenzing participated in the event and introduced their LENZING fibers and products to the industry partners. Key highlights from the Techtextil 2019 event included the press conference, attended by over 40 journalists and hosted by Marina Crnoja-Cosic, Head of Application Development at Lenzing AG, which covered Lenzing’s botanic solution for aquatic farming to reduce plastic in the sea, where mussel nets application was first announced. Post the press conference, the Innovation Roadshow presentation offered key insights on the best sustainable solutions by Birgit Schnetzlinger, Segment Manager Footwear, Global Business Management New Business Areas at Lenzing AG. Bernard Philipp Alowonou, Vice President Global Business Management - New Business Areas at Lenzing AG, also spoke in a forum about synthetic change makers and the future of wood-based fibers, sharing insightful opinions on sustainable textile industry. LENZING branded fibers At the event, Lenzing’s exhibition focused on protective wear and work wear From agriculture, packaging, and engineered products, to protective wear and work wear, the LENZING branded fibers serve a wide range of various industrial applications. With LENZING branded fibers, it is possible to generate bright and long-lasting colors for clothing and even produce work wear clothes with many intensive colors, ranging from bright red to lush green and deep blue. Driving sustainability More importantly, the fibers from LENZING help brands to drive sustainability at root, as the fibers are derived from the renewable raw material wood and made in environmentally sound production processes. Techtextil 2019 offered a great platform for the industry players to showcase technical textiles for architecture, the automotive industry, construction, clothing, and many others. It was also a valuable platform for Lenzing to network with a wide range of companies, all with similar values and ethics, and raise awareness on LENZING fibers.
The Dornbirn GFC Innovation Congress expanded to hosting a startup event on 11-12 September this year, providing a platform for 25 startups and partners worldwide. The event allowed participants to refresh their understanding of the industry and effectively network with other companies. The startups were selected around the world based on their unique technology, innovative products, and services as well as their commitment to inspire the movement in the industry. Wearables and sustainable clothing The event included startups from very diverse industries, from smart fabrics and textiles to sports and outdoor tech, wearables and sustainable clothing as well as recycling technologies. The winning team can also receive consulting services and further support Lenzing Group, as a producer of cellulose fibers and sustainable innovations in this field, supported the event by taking part in the jury for the startup competition and sponsoring prizes for the three top projects. What made this possible were the talks within and out of the event, enabling the establishment of various connections and relationships that could strengthen and enhance business. As a continued effort to strengthen industry engagement with the bioeconomy sector, Lenzing participated at the World BioEconomy Forum for its first time, which was held from September 9th to 12th in Ruka, northern Finland. The event brought together major think tanks, regulators and operators from 22 different countries from 6 continents to exchange views on various subjects, such as biostrategies, forest bioeconomy, climate change and circular bioeconomy. Bringing positive impact There are a lot of insightful sessions during the event, but the spotlight went to the CEO Panel of companies exclusively involved in the bioeconomy. Lenzing also took the opportunity to introduce its biorefinery offerings, in particular LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased, and its commitment to reducing carbon emission at the panel. Elisabeth Stanger, Head of Marketing/Business Development Global Pulp&Wood/Biorefinery at Lenzing, shared at the CEO Panel, “With sustainability as a core value, Lenzing develops and implements bio-strategies to bring positive impact to nature. Being part of the World BioEconomy Forum further strengthens Lenzing’s position among other world experts in the discussion of bioeconomy. We aim to drive eco-conscious practices throughout the value chain via our biorefinery product portfolio.”
