Following the Fire Authority’s decision in December 2017 to crew the four tactical response vehicles (TRVs) at Malton, Northallerton, Ripon and Tadcaster, with four staff, positive discussions have been on-going to try to resolve the dispute.
These discussions have been successful in relaxing the industrial action, which included an overtime ban and, with effect from 29th March, the Service has agreed that the minimum crewing of the TRVs at Malton, Northallerton, Ripon and Tadcaster, will be increased from three to four staff.
In return, the FBU have ended their ban on overtime, and staff will now be able to provide cover for staff shortages or undertake other work.
Enhancing service resilience
Owen Hayward, Assistant Chief Fire Officer said, “I am pleased that we have come to an agreement with the FBU and that this part of the dispute has been resolved. The lifting of the overtime ban will enhance the resilience of the Service.”
Both sides remain committed to fully resolving the final elements of the dispute.
