Steve Hamm and Jim Knighton have newly been appointed assistant commissioners of London Fire Brigade

The new Assistant Commissioners will be major players in the day-to-day running of London Fire Brigade

The London Fire Brigade has appointed two new Assistant Commissioners, with both staff in post from 4 May. Jim Knighton has taken up the post of Assistant Commissioner for Operational Policy. Jim, who has served in the capital since 1984, has been promoted from Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Risk. Steve Hamm is the Brigade's new Assistant Commissioner for Training and Development. Steve joins the Brigade from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Existing LFB Assistant Commissioner Gary Reason (formerly AC for Training and Development) is taking on a new role as Assistant Commissioner for Operational and Emergency Planning.

London Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson said: "Our new Assistant Commissioners will be major players in the day to day running of the Brigade and also in our strategic planning for the future. It's pleasing to be able to promote Jim Knighton from within the Brigade, but I'm also delighted that by welcoming Steve Hamm we will benefit from the experience and ideas he brings from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service."
